The Federation of Widford and Hunsdon JMI Schools School Council: Giving Every Child a Voice

At The Federation of Widford and Hunsdon JMI Schools, every child from Year One to Year Six is an integral part of the School Council, fostering a sense of responsibility and community from a young age. School Council meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month and are divided into six mixed-age groups, each consisting of fifteen children. These groups provide an opportunity for pupils to collaborate across age groups, allowing younger students to learn from their older peers while contributing their own ideas. The meetings are led by Year Six pupils, who not only guide discussions but also take the minutes, helping to develop their leadership and organizational skills. A teacher is always present in each group to provide support and ensure that the discussions remain focused and productive.
